FURNACE REPLACEMENT CONTRACTOR
Is your old furnace tired, dirty and inefficient? Does it draw it’s combustion air from the air inside your home? This is called an open combustion or atmospherically combusted furnace. They are typically woefully inefficient (plus building codes require that you cut a big hole in the side of your house if you have one) but more importantly they can be a serious health risk to you and your family. GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMPS (GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMPS)
As with solar systems (above), before we recommend a Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP or Geothermal) system we encourage our customers to look FIRST at ways that they can reduce their energy use by upgrading the insulation, air-sealing, and windows of their homes. Often this results in an energy efficient home which does not require a GSHP system. However, if a Ground Source Heat Pump makes sense for your home and your site, we look carefully at the type and size of system that is required and to ensure that the system is correctly designed for your specific situation. RADIANT FLOOR HEAT (HYDRONIC FLOOR HEATING or IN-FLOOR HEAT)
Radiant floor heating (sometimes called hydronic floor heating or in-floor heating) is widely thought to be the most energy efficient form of heating for homes. This is not necessarily true. The efficiency of any home’s heating system has much more to do with the efficiency of the furnace (or boiler) and the quality of the installation (ductwork, pipework, register, radiators, etc.). Radiant floor heating does have the advantage in some situations of being quiet and cozy (warm under foot) but it also has the disadvantages of being unable to filter the air in the house, and making it difficult to move heat from one area (e.g. near a wood stove) to the rest of the house. So, as with everything we do, we look at each situation differently using a whole “House-as-a-system” approach to determine whether radiant in-floor heating is right for you. For most people the crawl space under their house is a place they only visit in their nightmares. Crawlspaces can be dark, damp, moldy, smelly, spider infested, hell-holes that the average homeowner doesn’t even want to think about, let alone go in to. ATTIC INSULATION AND AIR-SEALING UPGRADES
Your attic is costing you money. Everyone knows that hot air rises but most of us don’t realize that in our homes the air that we have spent money to heat is rising up through every little crack, hole, and light fixture in the ceiling and escaping out through the roof via the attic. Energetechs can stop most of that heat loss by carefully sealing all of those gaps and holes then adding a nice, thick layer of healthy and environmentally-friendly, blown-in cellulose insulation. However, it is important for the homeowner to know that it can be a VERY bad idea to simply add insulation to an attic without sealing up the air leaks first.

RADON TESTING AND MITIGATION
Missoula, Montana is officially in Radon Zone 1 which means there is an elevated risk of finding radon in homes. Radon levels vary tremendously throughout our area so the only way to be sure that you don’t have a problem is to have a radon test done on your house. Energetechs offers Radon Testing for both homes and businesses in Western Montana. We use state-of-the-art electronic testing equipment that provides very accurate results including charts that show how radon levels vary during the testing period. Mitigating radon infiltration in an existing home involves preventing the radon from the ground from entering the air inside the building. This can be partially accomplished by sealing any cracks, holes, or gaps in the floor or foundation walls that are in contact with the ground. SPRAY FOAM INSULATION
