Furnace and Boiler Replacement Contractors

Forced-air and Hot-water Heating Systems
We design, install, and service both super-efficient forced-air furnace and hot-water boiler type heating systems. Our hot water heating systems can be either radiant in-floor heat or baseboard heating and they can be combined with on-demand gas boilers, geothermal heat pumps, and/or solar hot water heating panels. Our forced-air heating systems typically use extremely efficient, direct-vented (sealed combustion) gas furnaces with efficiencies up to 98%, however we can also do forced air systems heated by ground source heat pumps. Another option for smaller and/or more energy efficient spaces is a reverse cycle air-to-air heat pump that can supply both heating and air-conditioning via a small, high-performance “mini-split” system.
Air-conditioning
In most cases, a home that is appropriately designed, built, and operated for Montana’s climate does not require air conditioning. However there are certainly cases where it is either necessary or desirable in which case we are here to help. Some types of systems, such as ground source and mini-split (air-to-air) heat pumps, can inherently manage both heating and air-conditioning while others require a separate air conditioning system in addition to the heating system. We have experience as designers and installers of all of these different types of heating and cooling systems so we can help to determine which is best for you.
Ground Source Heat Pumps
Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) are considered by many to be the Rolls Royces of heating and air-conditioning systems. Like the cars, they are not for everyone and they do tend to be expensive. If it’s a Geothermal Heat Pump system that you need, we are one of the most experienced contractors around at designing, sizing, and installing these systems. In general we encourage our customers to look first at ways that they can reduce their energy use by upgrading the insulation, air-sealing, and windows of their homes. Often this results in an energy efficient home which does not require a GSHP system. However, if a Ground Source Heat Pump makes sense for their home and their site, we look carefully at the type and size system that is required and try to ensure that the system is correctly sized. Too big means too expensive to install and too small means it won’t meet the heating and/or cooling loads. Montana Energy Services staff have been ground source heat pump contractors for over twenty years and we have plenty of experience with maintaining these systems as well.
